Acquired films dominate OTT strategy
17-12-2024
Charu Malhotra, Co-founder and Managing Director, Primus Partners, shares her view on the OTT content acquisition landscape. Despite an investment slowdown and efforts to tie movie acquisition costs to box office performance, OTT platforms continue allocating significant budgets for the digital rights of big-ticket films to ensure strong viewership. She highlights that acquiring a recent blockbuster can range between ₹60-100 crore during pre-production, with this figure soaring beyond ₹200 crore if the movie becomes a major box office success.
