Grain-based ethanol has potential to boost farmers income by ₹35,000 cr, says report

A recent report by Primus Partners, in collaboration with the Grain Ethanol Manufacturers Association (GEMA), titled Unlocking ₹35,000 Crore for Farmers: The Untapped Potential of Grain Ethanol, reveals that India’s grain-based ethanol industry holds the potential to generate over ₹35,000 crore in direct income for farmers annually. The report highlights maize and surplus grains like broken rice as key drivers for sustainable ethanol production. It estimates that 165 lakh tonnes of surplus grain could be leveraged each year to strengthen rural incomes and promote urban sustainability.
